Important Vitamin Supplements for High Blood Pressure

There are important vitamin supplements that are needed to help prevent high blood pressure. One of the most important vitamin supplements that you would need is vitamin D 2 or D 3. Low vitamin D is associated with high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease, and depression. The best way to know if you are deficient in vitamin D is to get your blood tested at home or in your doctor’s office.

See below for the levels of blood vitamin d:
Deficiency is less than 20 ng/ml (50 nmol/l)
Insufficiency is 21-29 ng/ml (52-72 nmol/l)
Sufficiency is 30 ng/ml or more (73 nmol/l)

This is not medical advice and everyone is different, but you should get your vitamin D level checked. Your level should be between 30-100 ng/ml (75-250 nmol/l) and optimal is at least 60 ng/ml.

In this post, I will tell you exactly what vitamin supplements, based on research, you need to consider if you have high blood pressure.

There is no identifiable cause for primary hypertension. However, some research has shown that certain vitamin deficiencies might likely cause high blood pressure. Even resistant hypertension has been associated with vitamin deficiency.

If you are Black, your dark skin does a good job to protect you from sun radiation, which is protective against skin cancer. However, darken skin blocks vitamin D from being made by your body. Vitamin D deficiency puts you at higher risk for high blood pressure and other problems like severe COVID-19 symptoms.

Covid-19 and Vitamin D Deficiency

There is no consensus of the recommended dose or appropriate level of vitamin D. However, an analysis of 25 high-quality studies on vitamin D was published in the British scientific journal. It showed that vitamin D supplementation reduced the risk of acute respiratory tract infections, especially in patients with severe vitamin D deficiency. Since vitamin D deficiency and COVID-29 biomarkers are similar, scientists suspect that vitamin D deficiency may be associated with COVID-19.

Just so happens, Blacks are usually vitamin D deficient and at higher risk for COVID-19. People who are older and people who are obese are at high risk for vitamin D deficiency as well. COVID-19 is an inflammatory disease that affects the blood vessels, and people who have hypertension, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease are also at high risk for COVID-19.

Ask your doctor if you would benefit from vitamins to help prevent severe COVID-19 symptoms:
Vitamin C with rose hips, Zinc, D3 & K2, Magnesium or this one, B complex, Elderberry, Probiotic or this one, Melatonin, & Quercetin
