Hypertension is the leading cause of coronary heart disease, which is responsible for most deaths from heart disease in the United States. Much of what we know about heart disease comes from a large reliable research study conducted in Framingham, Massachusetts.
The Framingham Study found that 90% of 50-year-olds adults with normal blood pressure can expect to develop hypertension before they die. But once you have hypertension, is there such a thing as a cure?
What we do know for sure from the research is that medication is for managing hypertension to prevent poor outcomes like stroke, heart attack, and kidney disease. Blood pressure medication is not a cure.
If you want a cure, you have to do more than take anti-hypertensive medication.
In his video called “Kemptner’s rice Diet,” Dr. Greger reminds us of a scientist who cured hypertension with his rice and fruit diet. See the link below for the story.

My diet is not as restrictive as a rice diet, and I have reduced my blood pressure to normal without medication. Stay tuned to this blog for my upcoming series, “What I’m Eating Today.”
